This is a list of very good sites I have found while wandering on the net. French readers are encouraged to browse also the french counterpart with links to site only in french.
Comics
- User Friendly : you are a geek ?
Then you should understand this and find it funny. This is geek humour. Not
every strip is very good and you have to read a good deal of it to understand
some of the characters. But some are really very funny. When I discovered it,
I've read the whole archives and I recommend doing so. I especially like: The ICan't
Takeover
- Scott McCloud : This guy is just great. He proposes a few comics online. But more importantely, he has been thinking a lot about online comics publishing and even published a book about it (Reinventing comics). He shares his thoughts in a pleasant manner, in an online comic!
Development
- Extrem programming: Extrem Programming advocates some original software development practices with some common ideas, all pushed to their maximum potential (hence the name). The result is a versatile software development process, which allow to change the requirements anytime without dooming the project, proposes always a real predictable release date and with satisfied programmers, client and managers. Not possible you think ? At least, this is certainly worth a try.
- Joel on Software: this is a must-read if you do any kind of development and/or if you manage a team or a company. Joel has some very interesting insights on many topics related to software development, from managment to coding. He understands and explains why so many things so many thought as logical are just wrong. You may not agree with him on everything, but he makes a very good point on most stuff. Some good excerpts: I really recommend browsing the whole archives.
Thinking
- The Wipeout contest: this was a contest for essays showing how intellectual property can harm our lives. A very interesting read.
- The truth about DVD and CSS : you may have heard about hackers illegally pirating DVD. It is not as simple as many would like you to believe. Read on.
French links
- Confessions
